He produced and directed such movies as "The Ten Commandments", "The Greatest Show on Earth", "Samson and Delilah", "Reap the Wild Wind", "The Buccaneer", "Cleopatra", "Madam Satan", "The Road to Yesterday", "Fool's Paradise", "Chimmie Fadden Out West" (also wrote), "The Heart of Nora Flynn", "The Unafraid" (also wrote), "The Call of the North" and "The Squaw Man" (1914 - also wrote). A bit of trivia is that he was one of the founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. His wife was actress Constance Adams, daughters were actresses Cecilia de Mille and Katherine DeMille, brother was writer/producer/director William C. DeMille, father was playwright Henry C. DeMille and mother was playwright Beatrice DeMille. He died of a heart ailment.
